Bed & breakfast Catus Lot countryside with swimming pool, gardens and wi-fi

 

 

La Galerie has two hectares of beautiful grounds for guests to relax in. As well as swimming in the pool and relaxing on the sun terrace, you can enjoy a game of boules or badminton, or take a leisurely stroll around the gardens to see wild orchids and watch the abundance of butterflies and birds, and meet the neighbouring family of donkeys! And during breakfast you can sometimes see the wild deer wandering through the gardens.

  

 

Guests are all welcome to enjoy a swim and relax around the large 12 x 6 metre swimming pool. The salt-water pool is heated and has roman steps at one end. It is surrounded by a large terrace with plenty of sun loungers available for sunbathing and relaxing. The pool runs on an eco-matic salt water system, which is better for your skin and eyes and guests often remark how pleasant the water is to swim in. Guests at La Galerie are provided with pool towels for their convenience.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For clients who like to keep in contact via e-mail and wish to access the Internet during their stay, we are able to offer a free Wi-Fi Internet broadband wireless service. This service is available to clients who arrive equipped with their own portable wireless laptop, and allows access to the Internet while at La Galerie. There is a summer kitchen with refrigerator, for the preparation of picnics. La Galerie has a large parking area in the grounds. The entrance road is via a long gravel hill and so is not suitable for motorcycles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Breakfast is served in the delightful dining room, a gallery of art. The buffet breakfast, in the summer months, normally includes croissants, bread and toast, cold meats and cheese, seasonal fresh fruit of the region, cereals and yoghurts, jams and honey, coffee and a selection of teas, with seasonal variations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Set in the peaceful gardens among the trees, is our boulodrome and badminton court and it is the perfect place for playing a leisurely game of pétanque or enjoying the peace and quiet by just relaxing with a book on a shady bench. The area is floodlit for you to enjoy a boules or badminton match in the evenings.

Many species of butterfly can be seen feeding on the flowers in bloom in the gardens at La Galerie throughout the spring and summer months. We have planted many lavenders in the gardens as they are particularly popular with these beautiful butterflies. Our guest Jean-Pierre Soulere, a professional photographer based in Norway, who regularly visits France to study and photograph butterflies for his work, took these photos in the summer of 2007 in the gardens at La Galerie.

La Galerie is a haven for bird-watchers. The birds that can be seen and heard include larger birds of prey such as eagles, buzzards, hawks, falcons and owls, as well as woodpeckers, wagtails, redstarts and finches.

But please note that La Galerie is a "pet-free zone".

Things to do - Lac Vert

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

La Galerie is 1 km from a leisure lake and beach - the "Lac Vert". As well as swimming and fishing in the lake, there are pedaloes and canoes for hire. It also has a lakeside café bar by the beach, and two restaurants with views overlooking the water. Free activities at the lake include two floodlit tennis courts, a basketball / five-a-side football court, a football pitch, volleyball and table tennis.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For the more sporty and adventurous, bikes are available for hire locally, to explore the wonderful countryside, cycling through the beautiful vineyards of the Lot valley.
